Chicken That Won't Make You Say "G'Night"

This blog may be anti-food police but it has nothing against non-enforced healthy eating. If you're in Southern California, you might want to check out a new Australian "chicken burger" chain called Oporto that recently opened its first U.S. location right here in Rancho Cucamonga, and is about to open another one in nearby Ontario (with a drive-thru!).

The burgers aren't mind-blowing but they're far more interesting that most fast-food grilled chicken sandwiches out there, which tend to put one's tastebuds to sleep. I think I like the fries (chips) better than the burgers themselves. (P.S. If you're really hungry, you'll need a double- or triple-decker because the filets are pretty small.)

Selective Salting

Mark Steyn briefly turns his mighty pen to food-related matters: "He (NYC Mayor Bloomberg) can regulate the salt out of your cheeseburger but he can’t regulate it on to Seventh Avenue."

7/5 Update: I just found out today that Steyn has a new book coming out. Psyched!
